Your images
When you add an image, your browser reads the file from your device into this tab. All decoding, cropping, resizing and compressing happens in JavaScript and WebAssembly running in the tab. The results are held in memory and saved to your device only when you click Download. Nothing about your images (not the files, not their names, not thumbnails) is sent to Kilomill or anyone else. Closing or reloading the tab discards everything.
Check it yourself
- Open your browser’s developer tools (F12, or ⌥⌘I on a Mac) and select the Network tab.
- Add an image and wait for the result.
- You will see the page’s own code files (JavaScript and
.wasmencoders) being downloaded from this site the first time, but no request that sends your image anywhere. You can also disconnect from the internet after the encoders have loaded and keep working.
What the site does not do
- No cookies and no local storage.
- No advertising or Google Analytics. Cloudflare hosting may supply visit statistics as described below.
- No sign-up, accounts or email collection.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical data of each request (such as IP address, requested page and browser type) to deliver the pages and protect the service; see Cloudflare’s privacy policy. These requests never contain your images.
If the host enables Cloudflare Web Analytics, Cloudflare may add a visit and performance beacon to these pages. It measures page visits and performance rather than your image contents. This does not send the images selected in the tool.
